With clinic coming, Legion helps others with VA benefits

CARROLLTON, GA -- The local American Legion post helped about 200 veterans start the registration process for VA benefits, but more Carroll County veterans are eligible and still may need assistance.

Post 143 offered the free clinic to answer some questions for local vets and directed the veterans towards people who can give more answers. Each presentation was about 45 minutes long, with a variety of questions asked about possible benefits, paperwork and future assistants.

“So many veterans in Carroll County are not receiving veteran benefits. It’s a privilege they have earned,” said Larry Jennings, a Vietnam veteran and service officer for Post 143.
