Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Scot Lingrell has been named as the interim vice president for student affairs and enrollment management, effective Oct. 1, replacing Melanie McClellan, who is retiring.
Lingrell came to UWG in 2005 with experience in student affairs and enrollment management at both four-year and two-year institutions, including Wayne State University in Detroit, Rhodes State College in Ohio and the University of Toledo.
During Lingrell’s time with UWG, he has focused on three main areas: data-driven decision making; cross-institutional cooperation and collaboration; and comprehensive strategic foundations for all enrollment-related functions. He also created and led the Strategic Enrollment Council with Myrna Gantner; they also co-chair together on the President’s Special Commission to Improve Graduation Rates. With other colleagues, they have successfully implemented efforts that resulted in increases in both undergraduate student enrollment (10.58 percent increase) and retention rates (5 percent increase).
Currently, Lingrell oversees the offices of Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid, Excel Center for Academic Success, Student Affairs Web and Technology, First Year Experience, Enrollment Services Center and the Registrar.
He attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio for his bachelor’s degree in communications and his two master’s degrees in college student personnel and guidance and counseling. He received his Ph.D. from Ohio University in higher education administration.
