UWG's EXCEL Center has been honored with a Governor's Service Commendation, which salutes state government employees and organizations that provide faster, friendlier and easier service to their customers.
The EXCEL Center's sole mission is to support students with their academic success as UWG students and lifelong learners. Fifteen people on this team as well as 45 student peer educators/mentors achieve this purpose by offering dynamic programs in Academic Advising, Major/Career Exploration, Tutoring, Study Skills Training, Peer Mentoring, Multicultural Achievement Programming, Community Service and other academic success and leadership programs.
The EXCEL staff personalize their mission by "treating each student as if they were a member of the staff's own family.”
In addition to their on campus work, the center staff and participants volunteer in the surrounding community. Their dedication has resulted in a 95 percent positive rating from customers and the highest rated tutoring program in the state.
