The school bus driver trainee involved in the Oct. 4 accident that killed a Temple High School student will be charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, according to a Georgia State Patrol official.
GSP Lt. Paul Cosper said Wednesday afternoon that the agency will also be charging Kenneth Ross Herringdine, 59, of Roopville with failure to maintain a single lane.
“The arrest will take place today or tomorrow, then it will go back to the solicitor’s office to set up a court date,” Cosper said.
Herringdine had no comment Wednesday afternoon and referred all questions to his lawyer, Tommy Greer.
“My policy is that I do not comment on matters in litigation,” Greer said.
The agency had turned over its report on the accident to the Carroll County Solicitor’s Office for review two months ago.
“This is now an ongoing criminal case, and I will not be commenting on the case until it is resolved in the court system,” Carroll County Solicitor Doug Vassy said.
