The Douglasville Parks & Recreation Department’s participation in the Miracle League will allow handicapped youths a chance to play baseball, said Director Bennett Oliver.
“This is an opportunity for us to get into it,” he said. “These kids have never had an opportunity where they can sit in the wheelchair and hit a ball and can be pushed around the fields.”
Based on the belief that “every child deserves a chance to play baseball,” Miracle League baseball allows that every player bats once each inning and all players are safe on the bases, according to the organization’s website.
