IMPACT program awarded grant for science education

The University of West Georgia’s Department of Continuing Education was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Community Foundation of West Georgia on Tuesday, May 3. The award was given from the foundation’s Alice H. Richards Fund.

The grant will provide funding for Continuing Education’s IMPACT summer sessions for elementary and middle school children, including CSI Club, Seustastic Science, Paleo Mania, Crime Lab Chemistry and several others. Money will also go toward supplying science kits aligned to Georgia Performance Standards that local teachers can check out.

In addition to the many summer IMPACT events, Continuing Education plans on introducing IMPACT in the Community this fall. The program will hold several science events in nearby public libraries.
