For area school systems, work on the puzzle that budgeting has become continues.
With a $118 million budget and 14,000 students to educate, the Carroll County School administrators are listening to all options before making budget decisions.
Carrollton City Schools has faced budget cuts for the past several years, too. With a student population of about 4,500 students, the school board is working with a budget of about $38 million.
Superintendent Scott Cowart met with the Superintendent’s Advisory Council Monday morning, a staff meeting that includes all the teachers of the year. While he would not discuss specifics, he said he is looking to the teachers and staff to offer budget suggestions.
“We take into consideration any and all feedback,” he said. “I’m proud of the (school) board for entering into these discussions and looking at options... When there are difficult budgets, you need to reflect on them seriously and that’s what the board is doing.”
