The "old" bookstore located behind the McDonalds on Maple Street is shutting its doors this Friday. May 27th will be its last day of operation until it reopens in the "new" building on Tuesday, May 31st across from the TLC.The new building is 23,000 square feet versus the 8,000 square feet that houses the current bookstore. The increased size will be able to withstand the predicted increase in student enrollment within the next 5-10 years.
Students can expect the same clean, fresh look on the inside to reflect the modern exterior. A broadened selection of new and used textbooks and more options for renting books will be housed on the second floor. UWG and Greek parafenelia will be on the first. Along with the brand new Einsteins Bagel. It has been reported that the bookstore ordered another shipment for merchandise in addition to what is being transferred from the current building.
However, even after a long year of construction don't expect any applause or fireworks on Tuesday. The bookstore has opted to wait until August to have a grand opening and when they do, UWGMedia will be there!
