Summer Commencement Speaker Announced



Lieutenant General John M. Brown III will speak at this years, summer graduation ceremony. LTG Brown was Commander of the U.S. Army Pacific, headquartered at Fort Shafter, Hawaii from August 25, 2004 to February 1, 2008. He enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in 1969 and became an officer upon completion of Infantry Officer Candidate School in 1971 where he was commissioned a second lieutenant of Infantry.

Lieutenant General Brown holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from West Georgia College and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer’s Advance Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and the National War College.

His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Combat and Expert Infantry Badges, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab.

LTG Brown retired from the Army in 2008. He now serves as a consultant on strategic leadership, transformation, Asia / Pacific security and training exercises. He and his wife, Elaine, have been married for 40 years. They have two daughters, Kathryn and Allison
