Carrollton Stampede to rock the crowd

by Catalina Trivino/For the Times-Georgian
This weekend’s 9th Annual Carrollton Stampede Rodeo will allow spectators to spend time with the family and meet new friends, all while honoring military servicemen and women, enjoying good food, shopping, music, and rodeo entertainment.

All events will be at the VFW Fairgrounds on Highway 61 in Carrollton tonight and Saturday. Gates open at 6 p.m. on both days.

People can wander the festive atmosphere and join in several activities such as mechanical bull riding, bungee jumping, rock climbing and pony rides for children. A live musical performance by national recording country artist Jason Thomas will begin at 7 p.m., teasing its way toward the thrilling Stampede Rodeo Show at 8 p.m.

“We’ve got live bands and fun acts for the kids. There are different specialty acts. And then you’ve got the calf scramble for the kids. It’s just family entertainment,” said Bobby Lee Brasch, co-producer of the event. Children 10 and under can participate in the calf scramble, a chase to pull off the ribbon on a calf’s tail.
