Thousands of people are expected to flood into downtown Villa Rica Saturday for the city’s annual Gold Rush Festival.
The day will begin with the annual Gold Rush 5K Run through the city’s streets, followed by the parade at 10 a.m. that will feature Shriners, athletic teams, marching bands, churches and floats.
In commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, grand marshals for the parade will be first responders from West Georgia Ambulance Service, the Carroll County Fire Department and the Villa Rica Police Department.
