The University of West Georgia's spring commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, April 28 at UWG's Coliseum.
There will be two ceremonies, at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The speaker for both will be Hank Huckaby, chancellor of the University System of Georgia.
Huckaby began serving as chancellor
in July 2011. His career has focused on a long record of public service
to the state of Georgia in many areas of government, including the
University System, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate
degrees. He has headed up at various times in his career the Governor’s
Office of Planning and Budget, the Georgia Department of Community
Affairs, and the Georgia Residential Finance Authority. Huckaby also
served in the Georgia House of Representatives in 2011, prior to taking
the helm at the USG, representing Georgia House District 113 as a
Republican. His legislative experience also includes a stint as the
director of the Georgia State Senate Research Office.
