UWG Latino Week

The Latino Cultural Society is excited to announce they will be hosting a week-long of events called UWG Latino Week. Starting March 5 and continuing through March 9, events will help raise awareness on Latinos for the UWG campus.

One of the events is "How to Be Successful in College: Retention, Progression, and Graduation" on Wednesday, March 7. It will be held in the TLC 1303 at 7:00 p.m. They are honored to have the event led by guest speaker Louis Enrique Negrón, Sr.

Negrón joined the staff of Year Up – Atlanta in June 2011. From 2008 to 2011 Negrón served as the Director of Minority Outreach Programs at Georgia Gwinnett College where he was responsible for the creation and implementation of diversity strategies and outreach programs for under-represented students, faculty and staff at the college.

In 2009, Negrón was selected to Georgia Trend Magazine Top 40 Under 40 Georgia’s best and brightest and also was honored by Mundo Hispanico as one of the most Influential Hispanics in the State of Georgia. In 2010 Negrón was honored with the Civic/Government Hispanic Achievement Business Leadership Award.

The events are free and open to students, faculty, staff, and the community.
