Astronomy and physics demonstrations will be put to the test on Friday, April 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the University of West Georgia’s Crider Lecture Hall. Various faculty members and volunteers will demonstrate astronomical and physics phenomena, including sublimation, constellations, gravity, circular motion, temperature extremes, pressure and vacuum, magnetism, light and episodic catastrophism.
Dr. Ben Demayo, professor emeritus of physics, said that the event is beneficial to the university and to the community at large.
“It’s really great for the kids who attend,” said Demayo. “We want to get them excited about science and astronomy and get them asking questions.”
Demayo said to keep an eye out for planetarium program that they plan to use to show attendees constellations on a big screen.
“The exciting thing about this program is that it shows you the sky at anytime, anyplace,” Demayo said. “It can even reproduce eclipses.”
The presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, call 678-839-4097.
