UWG Remembers Veterans This Friday With National Roll Call On Veterans Day!
PREVENT@UWG and the Masters College Student Affairs Program in the
College of Education are collaborating on Veterans Day for the
Remembrance Day National Roll Call. By participating in this event,
the University of West Georgia has joined a nationwide grass-roots
effort to honor American service men and women who paid the ultimate
sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan during the past decade.
During the National Roll Call, campus and community volunteers at more
than 100 college and universities across the nation, including UWG,
will read the names of the 6,200-plus casualties of Operation Enduring
Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF), now called Operation
New Dawn.
A table will also be set up at the National Roll Call by the
PREVENT@UWG mental health awareness program, providing information to veterans about transitioning into student life on campus. Veterans are
a key group for PREVENT@UWG because of the various life issues they
might face adjusting or re-adjusting to the college environment.
