Clean Slate for UWG Women
A fresh start. Clean slate. New beginning.
However you want to describe it, the University of West Georgia women’s basketball team is putting the first 26 games of the season behind it as it travels to Niceville, Fla., for the Gulf South Conference Tournament, beginning today.
The Wolves (10-16, 4-10 GSC) come into the tournament as the No. 7 seed and face second-seeded Alabama-Huntsville in the quarterfinal round at 3:45 p.m. at the newly-opened Arena at Northwest Florida State College.
UWG women’s basketball coach Scott Groninger has made no secret about how his team is approaching the tournament. He’s talked about the season being made up of four phases all year long, and in one of the final team meetings before the squad left for Florida, it was written on the white board: ‘Phase 4 — Postseason. 0-0. New season.’
