To promote breast cancer awareness, the UWG Wolves women's basketball team is suiting up and joining the fight for a cure at this Saturday's game against North Alabama, which tips off at 2 p.m.
UWG players will wear pink warmup T-shirts, officials will use pink whistles and there will be several opportunities for fans to donate money to breast cancer research with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Parents who donate $10 can enter their children in a drawing for the opportunity to participate in a pregame shootaround with the Wolves at a future home game. Parents who donate $20 can enter their children in a drawing to be a ballboy or ballgirl at a future home game.
There will be piggy banks that fans can take home and fill with change throughout the month of February, then bring back to donate at the Wolves' regular-season finale against West Florida on Feb. 26.
There will also be a raffle to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and "Ballin' for the Cure" T-shirts will be available for a $5 donation at every home game in February.
"This gives our players a chance to be a part of something very special," said head coach Scott Groninger. "We feel that this is a very worthy cause and are happy to help in the fight against breast cancer."
