Day of HOPE Celebration

The EXCEL Center at the University of West Georgia will sponsor the annual ‘Day of HOPE,’ on Feb. 17, 2011. This is a day to celebrate HOPE scholars and all of the hard work they put into maintaining their scholarship.

On this special day, HOPE scholars will receive discounts from participating local businesses and will be the special guests at the women’s and men’s basketball games that evening. Local restaurants and businesses have donated gift certificates and merchandise to be given away during a special prize drawing during half time at both basketball games as well as free food for the students to enjoy in their VIP room.

The EXCEL Center is a resource center for all students on campus. Its services include free tutoring in all core classes offered at UWG, supplemental instruction for select courses, academic advising for undeclared students and certain pre-majors, academic Success Seminars, academic probation counseling, and mentoring programs for HOPE scholars, first year students and the Multicultural Achievement Program. Helping students make a university connection and successfully acclimating to college life is a top priority for the EXCEL Center.

The HOPE scholarship has enabled many Georgia students to attend college. Making a successful transition from high school to college is challenging. The EXCEL Center is here to help HOPE Scholars and all college students make that successful transition by providing the necessary resources. The EXCEL Center recognizes the hard work of all HOPE Scholars and encourages all others to pursue excellence.
