Eleventh Annual Festival of Majors Offers

Abundance of Information for Undeclared Students

An exciting and important event will occur for all undeclared and exploratory students on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the TLC Atrium. The 11th Annual Festival of Majors will commence a once per year event geared toward giving uncertain students the chance to learn more about each major UWG offers.

With nearly 1,000 undeclared students and an untold amount of others who are still uncertain about their major declaration decisions, the EXCEL Center is offering an opportunity for those students to explore their options by talking to each Academic Department at UWG. Representatives will be available to discuss majors, career options and even assist a student formally declare a major.

“This will be an excellent opportunity for students to learn first-hand about all the academic programs the University has to offer” said Jennifer Stewart, EXCEL Center Advisor and Coordinator of the event.

A number of other Student Affairs Departments will be there, including International Programs and Career Services. Students in attendance, regardless of major status, will be able to discuss studying abroad, interning, and a host of other things.

In addition to the wealth of information offered, the EXCEL Center will also provide light refreshments and a raffle for door prizes to all participants.

The EXCEL Center is a resource center for all students and their parents, aiding in making the college experience more successful. The Center’s services range from mentoring and tutoring to advising and sponsoring multicultural programs. The Festival of Majors has been going strong since 2000 and the EXCEL Center hopes that this year yields even greater student participation.
